Michael Nesmith has always been a favorite in the Sierra Mail Order Catalog. In recent years, his first three RCA solo albums after the Monkees, as "Michael Nesmith and the First National Band" were available on various compact discs packages as imports and available from Sierra. In most recent years, we lost track of "Nez" but he's back! All three First National Band albums (30 tracks) are now available directly from the man himself in this two CD set. Most of the songs are on one CD since Nez wanted the whole set to play uninterrupted and this is as close as he could get on a CD.


With "Magnetic South," "Loose Salute" and "Nevada Fighter" he seldom gets the credit, as his work with the First National Band could very well be considered every bit as influential as the Byrds or the Flying Burrito Brothers. But as he so modestly states in liner notes calling that nonsense, saying "Arbitrary categories such as Country Rock or R&B is fostered by schools, perpetuated by fools, creates havoc in the business of arts and tends to oppress artists," we can only concur.
