Description:
NOW AT A NEW LOW PRICE, not available since the late 90s, this new compact disc import, exclusive to Sierra Mail Order, features the last of the great Flying Burritos bands' 1972 released album, the classic "The Last of the Red Hot Burritos". But unlike the original LP, the previous CD releases of this album or CD ]released on the Australian Raven Records label, this release includes three bonus tracks, "Wake Up Little Susie," "Money Honey" and a killer version of Gram Parsons' "One Hundred Years From Now," all recorded before the same live concert audiences in 1971 at Dartmouth College (Hanover NH) and Antioch College (Yellow Springs OH). Considered by some critics as the better of the original four Flying Burrito Brothers albums, this fourteen song CD features band leader Chris Hillman on bass and lead vocals, with new members Rick Roberts, guitar and vocals, Al Perkins, pedal steel, Michael Clarke on durms along with future Country Gazette members Kenny Wertz, guitar and vocals (former bluegrass band member with Chris Hillman in the Scottsville Squirrel Barkers), Byron Berline, fiddle (Bill Monroe, Dillard & Clark) and Roger Bush, acoustic bass (The Kentucky Colonels, Rick Nelson's band) giving this last lineup a bluegrass kick! This was the live band sound envisioned by Chris Hillman when he formed the Flying Burrito Brothers with Gram Parsons in 1968 which finally came together here on this effort, thanks in good measure to the album's producer Jim Dickson, certainly no stranger to Sierra or this music! When you compare these live recordings to the recently released live "Gram Parsons Archives, Vol. 1 with the Flying Burrito Brothers" recorded earlier, in 1969, you can easily hear how the band matured but yet still managed to break new musical ground. From their opening country rock sound of "Devil In Disguise," to some breakneck bluegrass tunes and finally, just some straight ahead rock and roll, "The Last of the Red Hot Burritos" is a must have. Sierra Mail Order is the only source for this 'jewel' in the history of our kind of music! Songs: DEVIL IN DISGUISE / SIX DAYS ON THE ROAD / MY UNCLE / DIXIE BREAKDOWN / DON'T LET YOUR DEAL GO DOWN / ORANGE BLOSSOM SPECIAL / (Bonus Track) WAKE UP LITTLE SUSIE / (Bonus Track) MONEY HONEY / AIN'T THAT A LOT OF LOVE / HIGH FASHION QUEEN / DON'T FIGHT IT / HOT BURRITO #2 / LOSING GAME / (Bonus Track) ONE HUNDRED YEARS FROM NOW
